Ubuntu-desktop no se instala desde Kubuntu

Tengo instalado Kubuntu 6.10, he intentado instalar ubuntu-desktop y se
queda en Preparing..., cuando ha descargado del DVD el software.
¿Alguien lo ha intentado y conseguido?
