Desinstalar kernel viejos

Puedes quitar con Synaptic o una terminal, man apt-get o man aptitude 
lee un poco los manuales y para quitarlos del arranque manualmente:

sudo nano /boot/grub/menu.lst

Aunque también puedes hacerlo gráficamente con startupmanager creo que 
se llama el programa.
