10.04 terminal

Bonjour,

    J'ai fait la migration d'Ubuntu de la version 9.10 vers 10.04. Elle 
s'est très mal passée. J'ai eu des dizaines d'erreurs et finalement une 
interruption de la mise à jour. J'ai ensuite fait
"sudo dpkg --configure --force-all -a" qui s'est bien déroulé.
    Ensuite, en redémarrant l'ordinateur, après login et mdp, je me 
retrouve dans un terminal. En tapant "startx", j'obtiens des erreurs:

Xauth:  ~/.Xauthority not writable, changes will be ignored
Xauth:  error in locking authority file ~/.Xauthority   (ligne répétée 3 
fois)

exec: 3: /usr/bin/X: not found
giving up.
Xinit:  No such file or directory  (errno 2):  unable to connect to X server
Xinit:  No such process (errno 3):  Server error.
Xauth:  error in locking authority file ~/.Xauthority

Comment faire pour obtenir de nouveau le mode graphique de manière 
automatique au démarrage de l'ordinateur?
