[FAQ] Ubuntu GNOME & The Display Server

Isn't this divergent of technologies similar to that of Ubuntu GNOME using
GDM, and Stock Ubuntu implementing Lightdm? Would not the same apply to Mir
and Wayland?
I suppose Mir/Wayland is a much lower level/fundamental technology, and may
cause some incompatibilities with future applications if they are developed
for one but not the other. That being said, Application developers don't
generally develop for X, or Mir, or Wayland. They use tool kits, such as
GTK or QT, and those tool kits provide an abstraction layer that makes
their application compatible with X, Mir and Wayland.
I guess my thoughts are that the tool kits being developed need to be
updated to support all 3 technologies.
