Πρώτα απ' ολα μπες πάλι με κάποιο live cd και δώσε 

sudo cp /boot/grup/menu.lst_backup /boot/grup/menu.lst
Θα επαναφέρει το menu.lst στην αρχική του μορφή.
Λογικά για βάλεις image  sto grup πρέπει να προσθέσεις κάτι ανάλογο μέσα
στο menu.lst

splashimage (hd0,2)/boot/grup/splash.xpm.gz
