using "script" in bash

Διαβάζω ένα βιβλίο για το bash όπου μας προέκυψε καινούρια εντολή, το
script.

"Script makes a typescript of everything printed on your terminal.  It is
     useful for students who need a hardcopy record of an interactive
session
     as proof of an assignment, as the typescript file can be printed out
     later with lpr(1)."

Το θέμα είναι ότι αφού κάνω
script
δημιουργεί μεν  το αρχείο typescript αλλά όταν δίνω διάφορες εντολες του
τυπου
date, ls etc...
παραμένει κενό
Τι κανω λαθος?
