Αγαπητέ φίλε,

Παρ' όλο που είχα δώσει την εντολή για update, τη ξαναέδωσα, χωρίς να αλλάξει κάτι ή να μου ζητήσει επανεκκίνηση. Στη συνέχεια σκέφτηκα ότι μπορεί να μπερδεύτηκες και να ήθελες να δώσω upgrade (νομίζω ότι αναβαθμίζει όλα τα πακέτα). Έτσι έδωσα το «sudo apt-get upgrade» το οποίο κατέβασε πολλά δεδομένα, ενημέρωσε το kernel headers κλπ, και στη συνέχεια μου ζήτησε επανεκκίνηση, πράγμα που έκανα γεμάτος ελπίδες και χαρά ότι το πρόβλημα λύθηκε.

Στην επανεκκίνηση είχα ακριβώς τα ίδια, να λείπουν οι δυο γραμμές (προγραμμάτων και αυτή του system tray) και να ξαναβγαίνει το μήνυμα ότι δεν μπορεί να εκκινήσει το system tray και ότι το κλείνει (το system tray).

Κάνοντας μια αναζήτηση στο google είδα ότι και άλλοι (αγγλόφωνοι) είχαν το ίδιο πρόβλημα και η λύση ήταν να εγκατστήσουν από την αρχή το 12.10, σβήνοντας τους όλα τα αρχεία τους και απεγκαθιστώντας ότι προγράμματα είχαν εγκαταστήσει. Αυτό τουλάχιστον κατάλαβα απ' ότι διάβασα (ελπίζω να έκανα λάθος). Αν είναι έτσι τα πράγματα όμως, τίθεται σοβαρό θέμα ΣΤΑΘΕΡΟΤΗΤΑΣ ΤΟΥ UBUNTU. Κυκλοφορεί, δηλαδή μια «σταθερή» έκδοση (όχι beta έκδοση) που αποτυγχάνει να αντικαταστήσει την προηγούμενη αφήνοντας τον υπολογιστή ξεκρέμμαστο.

Ελπίζω να έκανα λάθος στην κατανόηση των Αγγλικών. Θέλω να πιστεύω ότι υπάρχει λύση. Αν όχι, υπάρχει τρόπος να γυρίσω πίσω στην 12.04;

Ζητώ συγγνώμη για το ύφος που χρησιμοποίησα πιο πάνω, και σε ευχαριστώ πολύ για την προσπάθεια σου να με βοηθήσεις. Εσύ, δεν μου φταίς σε ΤΙΠΟΤΑ, αντίθετα μάλιστα σου είμαι υπόχρεος γαι το ενδιαφέρον σου και τον χρόνο σου.

Αφού κατέβασα το iso του 12.10 και το έκαψα σε ένα DVD, ξεκίνησα τον υπολογιστή από το DVD. Το σύστημα δούλευε κανονικά, έχοντας και τις δυο γραμμές. Αυτό σημαίνει ότι δεν υπάρχει πρόβλημα ασυμβατότητας του υλικού (hardware).

Στη συνέχεια έκανα επανεκκίνηση και έδωσα την εντολή για «update» στο τερματικό. Παραθέτω το αποτέλεσμα της εντολής αυτής μήπως και βοηθήσει. Μετά έδωσα και εντολή για «upgrade», που δεν είχε τίποτα να κάνει. Ακολουθεί το αποτέλεσμα του τερματικού:
