Note that wholesale version updates to packages that are released are
quite rare: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/FAQ#Versions

This is more appropriate for the Backports process:

Alternatively you could update the package yourself and place it in a
PPA: https://help.launchpad.net/Packaging/PPA
