Hello Daniel,

qemu uses KVM kernel-based virtualization extensions if your system
supports them; qemu is the userspace program, but it's often called "kvm"
because kvm makes a huge difference in usability.

You may have a bit of difficulty transitioning between vbox and kvm,
they both require kernel modules and only one works at a time. You will
probably need to manually rmmod the virtualbox kernel modules before
trying the qemu/kvm tools. Install the libvirt-bin and virt-manager
packages; the virt-manager gui ought to be a good introduction to
creating VMs. (It isn't the only way, but it feels similar to the
virtualbox experience.)
