How much RAM do you have ? That might be an issue. Btw, you update
your system using "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade". "sudo apt-get install
package-name" can help in updating a specific package which has been
already installed, but not the entire installation. If you have
problems updating/upgrading your system from the command line too,
then it might be some other issue.
