[ubuntu-in] Indian language

Friends,

If I wanted to learn phonetic input for typing in an Indian language,
where do you think I should be looking for it? I've got SCIM installed
and would love to be able to type and print.

Typing half-characters that are so essential in Indian languages is
another issue that I am not familiar with.
