I had discontinued usage of ubuntu7.10 due to incorrect display of Kannada
fonts till the release of next version of ubuntu8.04.
I tested ubuntu-8.04 and found that surprisingly, Kannada, Telugu fonts are
displaying correctly . I am really happy.
I wish if the single phonetic keyboard for all indic similar to Baraha of
MSwindows are available in Ubuntu also.. At present, Kannada does not have
phonetic feature whereas Hindi has phonetic feature. I request you kindly to
take up issue on priority basis to examine the feasibility of developing
phonetic keyboard for Kannada also on the lines of Hindi Phonetic keyboard
layout.- preferably "Single Phonetic Keyboard layout" for all Indian Lang
(Indic) be developed.
Since I am deaf person, I am unable to participate IRC and as such request
for benefit of users of indic, thereby increased popularity of Ubuntu in
India.
