[ubuntu-in] phonetic keyboard layout for Hindi used in Ubuntu-8.04

[74yrs old]

In Ubuntu-8.04, I am using scim.- which is default of Ubuntu.
Reg: "xkb":= I could not understand or have no idea - will you kindly
explain in detail.  At present, for Kannada there is  no provision of
phonetic.
