[ubuntu-in] OT - Multiple Booting of GNU/LInux OS's]

Ok i tried the following

edited my /boot/grub/device.map

to show the following
(hd0)   /dev/sda
(hd1)   /dev/sdb


edited the /boot/grub/menu.lst
as follows
title MANDRIVA linux
kernel (hd1,4)/vmlinuz BOOT_IMAGE=linux 
root=UUID=9be80552-9983-4062-b4da-1247596cbbae  resume=/dev/sdb1 
splash=silent vga=788
initrd (hd1,4)/initrd.img

** am not sure how the the  hd1,4 should be should it be hd1, 1 or some 
other number.

But this *does not work* i get the error 21 - device not found

any tips
