So basically you are saying we should use FF for convineince sake only. I
was wondering if there was any other reason.
It's like saying, "make sure you use the Ubuntu kernel only".
Sure there are pitfalls of not using the Desktop integrated software, but
that should not discourage the users from using the latest version of the
softwares. Asking users not to use upstream is not a solution or a
suggestion that should be engaged. What are we dealing with here ... Windows
? ;-) JK.
In any case, use Synaptic for upgrade and new installations is recommended
for users who do not wish to meddle around too much with their software. But
all the bravehearts out there, feel free to use the upstream versions....
albiet with the knowledge that it involveds risk.
And as for the updated releases,upstream FF updates are more frequent or
"earlier" than Synaptic FF updates.
