Hi
Was curious to know if there where any open source / Linux / Ubuntu
software that allowed sending of faxes via a mobile broadband (usb
based) data card (in my case its a ZTE EVDO AC8700 device). This
device connects to the /dev/ttyUSBO port and it is a usbserial device.
dmesg
[ 105.098571] usbcore: registered new interface driver usbserial_generic
[ 105.098575] usbserial: USB Serial Driver core
[ 105.106131] USB Serial support registered for GSM modem (1-port)
[ 105.106218] option 2-1:1.0: GSM modem (1-port) converter detected
[ 105.106361] usb 2-1: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB0

Did a search in synaptic and they show programmes for
1. Class 1 or Class 2 fax modem.
2. capi20 interface
3. The HylaFAX client software communicates with a HylaFAX server via TCP/IP
am not sure what will work.
I have installed efax-gtk and in the settings it does ask where the
device is located - however i don't know how to test this ??
thanks
ram
