unfortunately, true :( - none of them are really usable by "normal human
beings" yet ..
although (a bit unrelated), do check out the live mixing tools out there -
some of them are pretty damn good ..

sorry i completely forgot about blender, as i haven't really used it much -
but yes, from what i hear and see - its possible to do very professional
looking stuff with it .. not so great for the use case of just wanting to
throw together a bunch of videos you downloaded from the internet or
something though - for that, honestly, avidemux and command line tools
really do do the job quite well, if you're a command-line type person .. i
know there's a few people working on video editting projects for linux -
lets hope something good comes out soon -- afraid all this is so mired in
the patent problems with non-free codecs, etc. - its hard to paint a clear
picture of who's at fault, really ..
