connects to the internet through a gateway. Here are the settings
that I use at my college LAN:
1. On the 'Advanced' Tab, I select all the 3 check boxes at the top.
2. I set the connect port to 443. You can use 5222 for plaintext
connections, or either of 5223 and 443 for SSL connections with GTalk
server.
3. Server should be set to either talk.google.com, or to
talkx.l.google.com. The second option is to be used only when the DNS
server in your LAN is not configured properly, and it takes a long
time for Pidgin to connect to GTalk.
4. In the bottom half of the tab, do check whether you have set your
proxy settings correctly. The value should either be 'Use Global
Variables', or set correctly to the proxy, whether it is HTTP/SOCKS5
proxy, and it's address and port.
If you still face problems, try getting a screenshot/pastebin and post
it where we all can see. Hope this helps.
