This is a problem with compiz, if the problem persists after reboot, do the
following
Right click on desktop, *change Desktop Background* --> *Visual Effects Tab*-->
*Disable and then enable effects* (None and then Normal/Extra)
If the problem persists, disable compiz effects.

Of Course this is not how any OS will be designed :)

I really love the new Ubuntu Software Centre, the only change I'd ask
