  Take what ever ISP connection you want, should work with Ubuntu(Any other
distro for that matter) in no time. Just you got to configure modem which
Airtel gues should help you.

Coming to Beetel modem, actually it doesn't "Suck". It is a low cost modem,
which does it is designed for. Since it is on the lower end, configuration
options are less than that of better ones like Dlink. Since Airtel provides
modem Rent free, take it and use it until some other need arises. Remember
basic one has only one port, so you can connect to one computer at a time.
