That i think may have been through WUBI - windows Ubuntu installer.

My opinion is that while ubuntu works it is rendered substantially
less functional has windows decides how much it can / cannot do. No
control over swap, root or home partitions (in fact the entire wub is
isolated into one partition)

please correct if i am wrong
