when connected open another terminal and try a ping command
-$ ping www.google.com
post the response you get
if connected it will show something like this

if this happens then we have to assume that some thing is wrong with
the browsers in which case try and see if work offline is checked, and
also see your internet connection settings - set them to use system
proxy settings
however what i think may be happening is that you dns is not auto resolving
then we could try changing the dns
once you are connected with the internet
then do this
Open /etc/resolv.conf file:
-$ sudo gedit /etc/resolv.conf
replace the dns numbers there , with this
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
save and close the file and then try both the ping command as well as
to connect to the internet
lets hope this works
