[ubuntu-in] Unable to install GRUB using ubuntu 9.04 live CD

Hi, 
i have windows XP and Ubuntu 9.04 installed in my laptop.. recently i have to reinstall my WindowsXP ....it causes some error in GRUB.....like only windwosXP boots ....... now i have to install GRUB using ubuntu 9.04 live CD. I read the article on internet but the main problem is that i don't know on which partition my Ubuntu is installed. like hd0 or hd1 or anything else..... please tell me the step by step procedure ...
