options to remove the "quiet splash" portion and see where in the console
output it starts failing. Try adding "nouveau.modeset=0" to your boot
options (pressing F6 during boot menu I think)

Thanks for your reply Vishal, I had tried removing quiet splash earlier but
it didn't help, adding " nouveau.modeset=0" also has no effect. Any other
suggestions?
