Ciao,
io ho fatto così: prima ho installato lm-sensors dal synaptic, dopodichè 
  lanci dal terminale il comando sensors-detect (praticamente cerca i 
sensori che ci sono nel tuo pc) e rispondi tutti si, fatto questo 
riavvia (sicuramente c'è anche il modo di non riavviare, ma io non lo 
conosco). Una volta riavviato sempre da terminale digiti sensors e ti 
dovrebbe apparire una cosa del genere :

a questo punto se tutto è andato bene puoi installare un front-end (per 
rendere più decorosa la visualizzazione) io uso gkrellm (anc'esso lo 
trovi dal synaptic).
