non ti va per un motivo semplicissimo... non gli hai detto di metterti
dentro la configurazione il touchpad... cioè nella sezione ServerLayout
(la penultima poche righe qui sopra) manca 
	InputDevice	"Synaptics Touchpad"

io poi ho i repository di ubuntu e basta (multiverse e universe
compresi) e quel pacchetto lo prendo da li (il pacchetto è
xfree86-driver-synaptics) e con quello funziona...

fammi sapere..

per xgl non so aiutarti... la mia povera s3 non è supportata
