I'm afraid this patch isn't acceptable because all this stuff is
autogenerated. If we applied your patch, it would just be overwritten at
the next update.

To be honest, this is something we have always explicitly refused. The
-meta packages are conscious, opinionated package selection; they aren't
meant to be fully general feature lists. If you disagree with the
package selection, that's entirely fine, but the way we recommend users
deal with that is simply to remove the metapackage if they want to
manage things themselves.
