Ooops! Imports fine for me too. 
For some reason when I did a mass import of ~/Music it didn't pick up *any* of the AAC's.
However importing just one, or a child of ~/Music with AAC's in seems to work.
Just cleared my library and re-imported ~/Music and the AAC's came in aswell.
Must have been a bug when I installed  Dapper but doesn't seem to work now.
Sorry for the goose chase!
