I'm in the same situation.

I'm using the standard Ubuntu 7.04

All programs of the distribution: standard Kernel, ecc...

When I try to import photos with f-spot it occur a system crash. I have
to reboot manually.

It occur always with arbitrary number of photo... I've tried from 1 to
240... And it's always the same.

I can't attach more informations because the system freeze and I can
only manually reboot it.

I think this is the same bug as #89467
