Ah, yes.  Indeed.  Installing libtaglib2.0-cil seems to have solved it.
I looked for a taglib package for Ubuntu but failed to see that.

Now back to the original problem, current Hardy still has this problem
with beagle 0.3.3-1ubuntu1:
