The problem is with the f-spot-0.5.0.3-ubuntu3 package, the
f-spot-0.5.0.3-ubuntu2 worked properly.

F-spot starts after displaying the root window, f-spot stops working and
closes the window.

Running the latest proposed update of f-spot on Ubuntu 8.10.

starting 'f-spot --debug' from a terminal results in the attached
output.
