The easy steps are clicking on the f-spot icon in the main menu, then a
window opens and closes immediately (without debugging enabled, it seems
as the screen flickers).

With a vanilla account I cannot confirm the problem either. The problem
occurs only with those accounts that already have an existing f-spot
photo collection (with tags and all).

The photo collection was created with 8.04. The system was upgraded from
8.04 to 8.10 recently. After the upgrade I tested the photo collection
and used f-spot only as a photo viewer (no new photos added)

Color management was not used with f-spot in the past.

With the gconf-editor I cannot see anything that hints that color
management is activated (and f-spot does not start).

In .gnome2/f-spot I cannot find anything that hints color management,
either.
