Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us and the
upstream bug reports, this appears not to be a bug.

The actual feature is:
If you want your image to be copied, just drag and drop normally.
If you want your image *not* to be copied, drag and while dropping hold the Shift (or even ALT) key.
