Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: f-spot
I've recently been importing a lot of photos from folders on my
computer. Some subfolders contain the same set of images, but I figured
that duplicate detection would ignore images that it has already seen.
While reviewing photos in f-spot, I noticed a number of duplicate images
with filenames that are of the form:
originalfilename-1.jpg
originalfilename-2.jpg
I used "find" on the command line to check for duplicates:
find ~/Photos/ -iname "-1.jpg"
I then manually checked the list of images returned and all of the
images were in a vertical orientation (portrait). I later removed the
duplicate images from f-spot by hand.
Anyhow, I thought it was interesting that only vertical images were not
properly detected as duplicates. I noticed an older bug about vertical
images not being imported properly. Maybe some old code is whitelisting
them? (Pure speculation)
