Title:
Unable to Quit Banshee on demand
Status in “banshee” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Currently when you have Banshee running there is no way, using the UI,
to Quit it completely. There is a "Close" option in the "Media" menu,
but all this does is close the window - Banshee keeps running in the
background. Any currently playing media continues to play and Banshee
continues to use resources.
There should be an option below "Close" for "Quit". It should close
Banshee down completely, including stopping any media from playing. A
confirmation dialog "Did you wish to close this window or quit Banshee
completely" might be good if there are concerns about bumping Quit
inplace of Close.
My reasoning for this is simple:
- Banshee is a memory hog on a slow system when you have a large music
library. Having the ability to Quickly close it down is vital when
your computer grinds to a halt.
- Even on fast systems, it's a pain to have to pause the active song
first before closing the banshee window, hoping that it has given up
control over the keyboard media buttons. I often find Banshee still
wants to play it's songs when I am working with other media
applications. A simple "Quit" option to Banshee would solve this.
