I'm having the same issue. Went to rip an audio cd... and it's not
recognised. When I try to open the location in Banshee, I'm told my
system needs to search for the 'Audio Cd Source' package. When it tries,
it can't find this. Tried un-ticking the 'audio plugin' box in Banshee,
closing it, opening it, ticking it, closing it, opening it, then trying
Banshee again. No go. We have a bug, sam.
Am running 11.04 with daily updates, on a 901 eeepc. Cheers. Also,
sound-juicer seems to work perfectly.

Title:
Cannot play Audio CD
Status in “banshee” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Binary package hint: banshee
Banshee doesn't seem to notice the Audio CD I have inserted, although
it has the "CD Audio" plugin listed in the sources list twice.
Removing ~./config/banshee-1 didn't do any good. I've checked my
.local directories and there's nothing which would suggest a custom
version of banshee or the like.
