Title:
[Maverick] F-Spot shows no thumbnails, crashes on picture view if
  image paths contain non-latin characters

Status in Personal photo management for the GNOME desktop:
  Confirmed
Status in “f-spot” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: f-spot

After the update from Lucid to Maverick (which otherwise ran
  perfectly) I get a crash of F-Spot (f-spot 0.8.0-1 from the official
  repositories).

When starting F-Spot no thumbnails are shown in the main window, just
something like a table where the thumbnails should be.

When double clicking one of the non-existing thumbnails, there is a
short moment when you can see the big picture but after that F-Spot
  crashes.

  Debug output attached.
