The solution from coolman seems to work, but it's not that elegant
because it just restarts docky after it crashes each time you pull the
plug or suspend. This is certainly an excellent work-around, but I hope
there's a better solution.

I seem to get this quite a bit lately. As far as I can tell it
(mostly) happens after I resume from a suspend. But not every time...
