I was just thinking about the team lunch next week. We should probably decide on a menu. I'm leaning towards something simple but satisfying, maybe a build-your-own sandwich bar That usually works for everyone. We could get some nice artisan breads, a variety of meats and cheeses, and all the fixings. Lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, a few different spreads. Mustard, mayo, maybe a pesto or a sun-dried tomato aioli for something different. That way people can customize to their liking. We should also have a vegetarian option, perhaps some grilled vegetables or a hearty bean spread. Speaking of beans, I tried a new black bean soup recipe over the weekend. It was quite good, very flavorful with some cumin and a touch of smoked paprika. I topped it with a little sour cream and fresh cilantro. It made me think we could do a soup and salad combo one week for a change of pace. A hearty soup and a fresh green salad with a vinaigrette. Simple, healthy, and easy to serve. I need to check with Sarah in accounting to see what the budget is for these things. She usually has the final numbers by Wednesday. I'll send her a quick note tomorrow morning. Also, don't forget the monthly all-hands meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 10 AM. The conference room on the second floor is booked. The main topic will be the Q3 project timelines. John from marketing is supposed to bring some updated slides. I hope he sends them out beforehand so we can review. Last time we spent half the meeting just reading through them for the first time. It wasn't the most efficient use of time. I'll remind him when I see him later. On a completely different note, my neighbor is having a barbecue this weekend. He's famous for his grilled corn. He soaks the corn in the husk first, then grills it. Once it's done, he peels back the husk, brushes it with a mixture of butter, lime juice, and chili powder. It's incredible. I should ask him for the exact ratios. I think he uses ancho chili powder for a deeper flavor. I might try to replicate it. I have some corn in the fridge. Maybe I'll do a test run tonight. I also need to pick up some more charcoal. The weather is supposed to be perfect for grilling. Sunny but not too hot. I love this time of year. The days are still long, and you can eat outside. I sat on my patio with a book last evening until the sun went down. Very peaceful. I'm reading a historical novel about a ship's captain in the 1800s. It's surprisingly engaging. The author does a great job with the details of life at sea. It makes you appreciate modern conveniences, that's for sure. No instant coffee for those sailors. Just hardtack and salted beef. Speaking of coffee, I need to make a new pot. The morning brew is wearing off. I prefer a medium roast, something smooth without too much acidity. I usually buy the beans in bulk and grind them fresh each morning. It makes a noticeable difference in flavor. The aroma alone is worth the extra minute it takes. Okay, back to work. I have to finish this report before the end of the day. The summary section is always the hardest part. Condensing all that data into a few clear paragraphs. I find it helps to step away for a few minutes, then come back and read it aloud. You catch so many awkward phrases that way. I'll do that after my coffee break. I should also check in with the design team about the new brochure layouts. They were working on the final proofs. I hope they kept the clean, minimalist look we discussed. Too much clutter and the main message gets lost. Clarity is key The client wants to project professionalism and trust. That's what we're aiming for. Simple typography, plenty of white space, and those accent colors we selected. The blue and gray palette looked very sharp. I think it will resonate well with their target audience. Well, time to get that coffee and dive back in. Another hour and then it's time for lunch. I brought leftovers from last night's pasta. It was a simple aglio e olio with lots of garlic and red pepper flakes. Sometimes the simplest dishes are the best. Just pasta, good olive oil, garlic, and a bit of parsley. You can't go wrong.
