Desktop-effects or any other 3D apps will slow everything down as it
needs the mem cpu to run and its a very heavy load when speaking of
beryl, compiz, ect... It can also be that your video card is older and
the memory that comes with the card is low and than it will slow GUI
down due to you are now low on memory. The wikis state if you wan to
play a game or use something else intensive to turn desktop-effects off.

Rejecting as this is not a firefox issue.
