Same happens to me. Didn't install anything but Adobe Flash via Ubuntu
package and the Web Developer toolbar.

When browsing, Firefox sometimes greys out doesn't react. After ~5-10
seconds, it becomse responsive again. This doesn't happen only on
special Websites (large Flash, Java or so) but on "normal" ones.
