[Bug 222916] [NEW] Download Manager cannot save files

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Hardy Heron will not download files to Desktop.  The download starts,
then immediately stalls.  This leaves a .part file and a zero-length
name file when cancelled.

Exhibits the same behavior if I change the download folder to, e.g.,
~/Downloads/.

This is Ubuntu 8.04 LTS for x86.
