I have the same problem. KBUNTU, updated firefox about reads:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.13) Gecko/20080325 Ubuntu/7.10 (gutsy) Firefox/2.0.0.13
It seems to be intermittent, around 30% of my pages require two clicks.  The first click displays "done" immediately as a blank page, the second one or a refresh seems to fix it.
2GB Ram, Nvidia geforce, dual core
uname -a
Linux kbuntu 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Feb 12 07:42:25 UTC 2008 i686
