Hi Mackenzie,
Problem solved!
Add and remove programs didn't have it listed. I went to several sites 
to down load the flash tar zip file for the flash plug in. I don't know 
what I did but synaptic found one of the unzipped files and installed it 
correctly it must be magic.
Thanks for your prompt reply's it's certainly very different from 
Windows.I like it :-)
