I don't get this when i browse the earlier site, but
http://screamyguy.net/sketchableSource/index.htm#fractal.zip causes a
crash to login screen for me when i scroll up 'n down with my mouse
wheel. I'm using fully updated Hardy _without_ hardy-proposed

Disabling all except "Ubuntu Firefox Modifications" addons didn't help
at all. The site contains a Java applet so could be related to Java. I
also had a similar crash with a different site a few days ago but didn't
note down the URL at the time
