[Bug 226671] [NEW] Synaptic Manager No Longer Works After Reload

Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree

After a system crash (trying to install NVIDIA driver), I did a reload
and now Synaptic Manager doesn't work anymore.  No matter what I do it
just keeps saying this after I try a search "no package is selected."

Not sure if this matters but I did install the propietary driver for my
NVIDIA card.

Running AMD Thunderbird at 1400 mgh. Hardy Heron 8.04.
