#1 I will try to reproduce this. Even thought it should ask you to
restart, I don't think it should mess up your current session, making
the browser unusable, causing the user to close the application due to a
cryptic error.

#2 is a superficial error not an bug/issue. You are correct to say it's
just Mozilla's "welcome page". This page has been changed since the bug
was reported. Sorry about the confusion.
