Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: firefox-3.0
When starting firefox, it will delay for (on timed average) 3 minutes.
When it loads, it is responsive until user attempts to use firefox;
change URL, click on homepage link, etc. The delay is slightly less than
3 minutes. Many attempts to reinstall, uninstall and install, and
firefox deletions have not fixed this issue. I have also tried using the
binary provided by getfirefox.com.
Here are the specs to my desktop where issue occurs:
Linux 2.6.24-21-generic running KDE 3.5.9, CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz at 3216 MHz (6432 bogomips), HD: 722/1232GB, RAM: 2472/3035MB.
This does not happen on my two other laptops (HP and Dell).
All 3 running Kubuntu 8.04 with all updates applied.
