updated to latest drivers for ati card although they do not list the
X1200 the next series up drivers in  downloading both packages through
synaptics package manager and installing all firefox issues went away
and screen is stable without the rasp from top right to bottom left and
blinking of screen has disapeared when going through the menu bar.
