Note that there are enormous security implications to opening files from
across the web.  You are far more likely to encounter malicious files on
the web than you are in your own file system or on custom-configured
network shares.  For an obvious example you don't want to execute code
you find out on the web.

If this is implemented, please do so in a way that doesn't make browsing
even more dangerous.
